Follow Up Boss vs kvCORE vs Lofty: How to Choose a Real Estate CRM (October 2026)

By Brian Lee Burke, team leader of The Kenna Group at Keller Williams DTC, licensed since 2003 · Updated October 19, 2026 · 5 min read

The short answer

Follow Up Boss vs kvCORE vs Lofty: Follow Up Boss is a CRM built to connect to the lead sources and website you already use. kvCORE, now sold as BoldTrail, and Lofty are all-in-one platforms with CRM, IDX websites and lead generation together. Pick by how your leads come in and who will run the system daily.

Full disclosure: our team runs on Follow Up Boss, and PadLeaders sells a Follow Up Boss setup. So I'll stick to what each company says about itself and how I'd decide.

What each one is, per its own site

Follow Up Boss. Calls itself "the real estate operating system" and the "central hub" for your business. It says it integrates with more than 250 lead sources, website providers and other tools. The pitch is an open platform: bring your own website and lead sources, and FUB organizes the follow-up.

kvCORE (BoldTrail). Inside Real Estate's kvCORE page now redirects to BoldTrail, titled "The Next Generation of kvCORE." The front office lists IDX websites, lead generation, an AI-assisted CRM, marketing automation, listing marketing and productivity tools. A separate BoldTrail BackOffice covers agent billing, commissions, accounting and reporting. The site has sections for agents, teams, brokers and enterprise brokerages.

Lofty. Describes itself as a real estate CRM with IDX websites and AI agents. Its pricing page lists a CRM, power dialer, IDX and hyperlocal websites, transaction management, back office, social tools and lead-generation programs, plus AI agents for sales, homeowners and social.

Published pricing (as of October 19, 2026)

Only one of the three publishes base plan prices on its site. Prices change. Check the vendor's page before you buy.

Step by step: follow up boss vs kvcore vs lofty

  1. Write down where your leads come from. Portals, your website, sphere, open houses, ads. If they come from many places, open integrations matter. If you want one company to generate them, an all-in-one matters.
  2. Decide if you're keeping your website. If you like your current site, a CRM that plugs into it saves you a rebuild. If you need a site, look at what's bundled.
  3. Name the person who runs it. A team admin, the team leader, or each agent. More features means more setup and training time.
  4. List your must-haves. Calling and texting, automations, round-robin lead routing, reporting by source, a mobile app, back office.
  5. Ask for written pricing. Seats, add-ons, setup fees, contract length and what happens to your data if you leave.
  6. Test with real leads. Run a trial or demo with your own lead flow, not sample data. Time how fast a new lead reaches an agent's phone.
  7. Plan the migration. Export your contacts, tags and notes before you switch. Decide which tags and stages survive.
  8. Build the follow-up plan before day one. The software doesn't follow up. Your plan does.

How to choose, in one line each

  • You already have lead sources and a website you like: look hardest at an open CRM like Follow Up Boss.
  • You want one platform with website, IDX, CRM and back office for a brokerage: look at BoldTrail.
  • You want a bundled website, CRM and AI tools and are open to their lead-gen programs: look at Lofty.
  • You're a new solo agent: pick the one you'll actually open every morning, and keep it simple.

Try this today

Open your current CRM and pull a report of last month's new leads. How many were called within five minutes? How many have a next task? Whatever system you pick, that's the number you're trying to fix. A new CRM with the same habits gets the same results.

Watch-outs

  • Don't buy on features you won't set up. An unused automation is the same as no automation.
  • Watch the contract. Ask about term length, cancellation and data export in writing.
  • Count every seat. Admins, ISAs and assistants may need seats too.
  • Lead routing matters more than looks. A pretty dashboard doesn't call anybody.
  • Reviews online often come from affiliates. Many comparison posts earn a commission. Read the vendor's own pages and ask for a demo.

Frog tip: Never leave a lead record without four things: a stage, a saved search, a note and a dated next task. A lead with no next task is a lead nobody's working. Learn more →
